Ponyboy, his brothers, and there gang are greasers. Lower class in his neighborhood and the upper class are the Socs! Socs love to cause trouble with the greasers. Ponyboy, and his brothers Darry and Sodapop live alone in their house they grew up in. There parents died in a car wreck a few years back. Sodapop and Darry are drop outs, but they refuse to let Ponyboy do the same. Ponyboy, a 13 year old, is not your average 13 year old. His gang is also a set of unaverage teens. Drinking, smoking, sneaking into movies, getting in fights are there hobbies. These six unordinary teens experience some of the most life threatening situations through out the book. This ALA Best Book for Young Adults and winner of the Massachusetts Children’s Book award is a heroic story! Filled with friendship, trust, risk, and having the faith to believe. The author, S.E Hinton was only 16 when she wrote the book. She was in times where woman didn’t get books published, so in doing she put her name as S.E Hinton. Not knowing or could even tell she was a girl. To me that takes courage! Which describes this book tremendously. This book will fill your heart with joy, laughter, and tears. It will keep you on the edge of your seat like no other. This book made an impact on my life, I hope it does yours!

I was one of the people who said that the books are more intresting than the movies, but I can honestly say that both, book and movie of The Outsiders is GREAT. Producers and the author really worked hard and thought about this carefully. Great job!!
